‘Crazy idea’ lands Calgary Herald international philanthropic award for Christmas Fund
What started as a “crazy idea” by a group of Calgary Herald journalists 22 years ago is now being honoured on the international stage for outstanding philanthropy.
The Association of Fundraising Professionals has named the Calgary Herald the recipient of the 2013 Award for Outstanding Corporation for its Christmas Fund, which has raised $20.7 million for hundreds of organizations in the Calgary region since its newsroom inception in 1991
